Type 1 MOT is an aggregate that acts as a Sub Base. It is an aggregate made from crushed granite and is a highly cost-effective and popular aggregate given the ease to manufacture in comparison to some other aggregates we supply. Unlike other Type 1 aggregates such as Type 1 Recycled Crushed Concrete and Type 1 limestone, MOT produces less fines and is a favourite of many engineers.

This aggregate can vary in size. The largest our Type 1 MOT will be is 40mm and it goes right down to a fine dust product. It’s ability to be effectively compacted makes it perfectly suited for use as a sub-base. It has been used for generations as a main base layer material. Although Type 1 MOT is not one of our most aesthetically pleasing aggregates, you can easily add another of our more decorative aggregates, if you’re using it in domestic or agricultural works where presentation matters. As crushed limestone is permeable, it helps to assist with drainage. The larger stones mixed into the aggregate adds the necessary weight to prevent it washing away during harsh weather conditions.
